Administrative Block

The University administration comprises a strong team of 1748 employees, who look after the essential University services, predominantly, of course belonging to finance management and conduct of examination. The University budget for the year 2001-2002 is over 54 crores, out of which nearly 22 crores are given exclusively to the teaching departments. To augment its income from internal sources, the University has launched innovative methods like constructing shops-cum-offices facing the main road and letting them on commercial basis.

It has also been utilizing a large chunk of its land for commercial purpose of cultivation and plantation. The University has brought in many innovations in the conduct of examinations. Timely declaration of results in the last decade (the schedule has not beet broken or delayed even once), introduction of single answer book, revised pattern of question papers based on UGC-NET and UPSC system, computerization of results, computerized printing of photographs of candidates on the detailed marks card are some of the examples in this context.

The University has also taken initiative in affixing holograms and photographs of candidates on the various degrees. Result of examination held in April-may 2001 were declared by 30-6-2001 and the same have also been made available on internet. The current academic session was started in the first week of July, 2001. The practices of unfair means in the examination have almost eliminated with the active support of all concerned. The result card of candidates are now being issued with photographs printed on them. To bring in efficiency, all the major operations relating to finance and examination have been computerized. The work in the other branches of the administrative and accounts wings is under computerisation. The University Budget has been computerized for the last 5years. The Syllabi of various classes/courses are available on internet.

The admission forms of various examinations will also be available on line very shortly. The different branches and wings of the University are being networked. For clerical work, junior data entry operators have been recruited in place of clerks. Computer courses have been started for employees.

To make communication easier, a 512 hundred line electronic PABX has been installed each section of the University office and teaching departments have been connected. The University has a public relations department. It takes care of the publicity affairs and publishes a quarterly University Samachar, which chronicles the day-to-day events of the University .

The University also publishes its Annual Report each year. Other well developed systems which are integral to the working of the University are transport, internal security, Landscaping, Construction, Maintenance, Electricity and water supply. The University has 4 buses and several staff cars. Right from the beginning, the University has been managing its own electricity and 24 hour water supply. It has commissioned its own treatment plant for sewage water. Recently, two electricity sub stations with transformers and voltage stabilizers of 1200 kva capacity each have been installed.

The work regarding installation of two diesel generating sets of 380 kva capacity each is under progress. One of the predominant reasons why this University has virtually remained free from any internal strife is its participative work culture. The campus has more than 15 committees which monitor its work. Each wing of the University employees, be it teaching or non-teaching, has its own Association, which works on principles of mutual benefit and without interference from external politics. The progress of the University can be largely attributed to the efforts of all those serving it enthusiastically.
